What To Expect

Your pet's safety is at the forefront of every surgical procedure.

During our pre-op appointment, we will discuss your pet's health, potential risks, and any other concerns you may have. Before every procedure, we run blood work to confirm your pet is healthy enough for anesthesia.

Throughout the surgery, your pet will be given an IV to administer fluids while a dedicated team member closely monitors their vital signs. In recovery, we will continue to closely watch them and use pain medication as needed to keep them comfortable.

We will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to help facilitate a smooth recovery. Remember, we are always here to address any questions you have.

We are a team of pet owners and pet lovers. Knowing you trust us to care for your pet is the highest compliment. Our commitment to you is to treat your pets with the latest advancements in surgery while also giving them the loving care they deserve.

Common Questions

Will my pet need a follow-up appointment?

This will depend on the type of surgical procedure and healing process. If you are worried about the incision or surgical site, bring your pet in for a recheck and we can let you know if things are healing appropriately.

Can my pet resume normal activities post-surgery?

This will depend on the type of surgery, and we will give you custom instructions post-op. Generally speaking, you may need to restrict your pet’s activity for 10-14 days following a procedure. For dogs, this means short, controlled leash potty breaks. For cats, we recommend they do not jump or play.

What are the benefits of spaying/neutering?

There are several important reasons to consider spaying or neutering, including:

  • Health Benefits: Neutering or spaying can reduce the risk of cancers such as mammary, prostate, or testicular cancer.
  • Control Overpopulation: This procedure helps manage pet overpopulation.
  • Safety for Certain Breeds: For breeds like French Bulldogs and chihuahuas, pregnancy can pose serious health risks.
  • Prevention of Uterine Infections: Spaying helps prevent potentially life-threatening uterine infections known as pyometra.
  • Behavioral Improvements: Neutering can significantly reduce behaviors such as humping and urine marking.

Do you accept pet insurance?

Yes, we recommend Trupanion as our preferred insurance partner. You might also consider one of our wellness plans to help offset the cost of certain procedures.
